Some one posted this on another forum and I am curious if Trina knows if there is a difference or not

I'm Canadian, but living in the USA, just a few hours from the border and I'm having a dilemma I was hoping you ladies could help me sort out.

In Canada, from what I've heard, they won't release baby from the hospital until they check the car seat and make sure it has the Canadian Safety Standards Label. I have also heard that Canada has better safety standards than the USA.

So now I am looking at car seats and wondering if I should buy a Canadian one instead of an American one due to safety issues. This is one thing I don't want to cheap out on, however the price difference is big - the US Travel System I'm looking at is $269.99, the Canadian one is $399.99. Again, the price is not an issue on this item for me.

I tried online to find a comparison chart between US and Canadian standards so I could see the differences for myself, but I have had no luck. Anyone have any ideas on where else I can look? Do you think I'm just being overly cautious and that the Canadian ones and US ones are just as good as one another?

I'm no car seat expert, but she is absolutely fine with a U.S. carseat, as long as all the safety issues check out and it's all properly installed.

I was thinking the same thing, That the seat is the same... just the laws are better in Cnada but I didn't know for sure. SO that is what I told her and that I would see if I could find out for sure

Actually, it's illegal to use a Canadian car seat in the US and visa versa. The standards are not any better in either country, they're just a little different and run by different governments. Politics and red tape....

All that said, if you live in the US, buy a US car seat.
