Does anyone know anything about this booster seat?
Recaro, Recaro Seat, Recaro Car Seat, Booster Seat, at BabyAge.com (http://www.babyage.com/recaro/43612/recaro_vivo_booster_car_seat.htm)

I have not played with them personally, but they are a good brand and seat, so I woul think they would be great

I totally trust the brand but I was shocked about the price. Most of their seats are $250-$300. We aren't really ready for a booster...although going by size he is. But I want to start hunting now. I can't justify the cost of the frontier
Wasn't the Recaro the one with the twisty straps? Or is that something else?

this is just a booster so no straps on it at all

what Kaytee said, but yes the recaro convertable seat was reviewed as having twisty sraps
Oh that must've been what I was thinking of.

No personal experience with that booster, but with a price like that I suspect either the cover has been discontinued OR it has been sitting on the stock shelf for awhile. This means it will have a shorter span of use. (Car seats and boosters expire 6 yrs. after the date of manufacture.)

good point Trina, I wonder if the sellers would give me the manufacture date?
I don't know, but if it's any where near as nice as Eli's current Recaro, I'll be getting that for the rest of his car seat days. :D I want the red one! It's so cool! lol
It looks really nice to me. And comfy. I just LOVE Eli's Recaro Como, and yeah the straps CAN be twisty, but now that I've been using it for awhile, the straps almost never twist at all. I have no problems with the straps, all I had to do was get used to buckling it. :)
It's so comfy, he falls asleep in it all the time, and darn does it look nice!

Oh hey Trina, I haven't told you, we got a new car! It's a silver 2004 Dodge Stratus and it has latch in every position!! Eli's car seat feels so much more secure now. :D

Cool! Do you have his car seat installed with LATCH? It's hard to tell by the pic, but it looks like it's buckled in.

he's only 27 months now so not ready for the booster yet. He's 37 lb and 3 1/2 ft tall but he still fits nice in his current seat, I think it goes to 60 lbs or so but he won't stay in it that long. I was hoping that seat was always close to that price though...LOL

What seat is it? Must be 65 lbs.. I'm not aware of any that go up to 60.
I wouldn't even worry about a booster for him yet. There will probably be more available on the market when he grows out of his current seat.
FWIW, My nephew (3.5) is in a Marathon and just recently moved to the top slots. He still has a lot of growing room heightwise and isn't even clost to 65 lbs.. Of course, all kids are different. My DD (not quite 11) still doesn't weigh 65 lbs. LOL!

Nichole is still ont he second to the top slot so she fits just fine at 3 1/2 as well, but one of the issues I have, not sure about your nephew is it just doesn't fit her snug in the belly and thighs area. Because she is built like a bigger ki (likeeven her friend who are 3 1/2 are stalkier and have more chunk on their legs) Nichole is built like a 5 or 6 year old. Her height is taller then her weight. So she is 36 inches now but only 28 pounds. Since she sits so much like a big kid its just not as snug in the thighs as I would like it to be. When I put her in the Nautilus (since it sits like a big kid seat) she fits soooooooooo much better in it, it fits her so much more snug in the thighs.

he's on the top straps of his seat now but just recently so we still have a little while but there'd not a chance he'll fit until 65lbs. The crotch strap is also really short.
This is the seat he's in now http://www.coscojuvenile.com/usa/eng/Products/For-Travel/Car-Seats/Convertible-Car-Seats/Details/190-22155NSH-Alpha-Omega-Elite™-Convertible-Car-Seat I realize this seat also says it works as a booster until 100lbs but it's not ideal as a booster at all

That's like with Josephine. She isn't 65lbs eitherbut grew out of her convertible height wise. She's in a backless booster.

As Kaytee pointed out, the Alpha Omega only harnesses up to 40 lbs.. It happens to be one of my least favorite car seats. *cringe* Yes, it's AWFUL in booster mode!

you're right, I misunderstode that part in the instructions. I thought it would harnass until 65 but could be used as a booster :o...and actually that explains a lot of the problems I'm having with it now. It's been a good seat but it looks like we're done with it sooner than I thought. I have no idea what I'm going to do now

It's not a convertible car seat. It's a "combination" car seat, which harnesses forward facing and then transitions to a booster. It's pretty much impossible to design a GOOD car seat that works for all 3 modes (rear facing, forward facing, booster). The Cosco Alpha Omega claims to do so, but it falls short. Besides the fact that car seats expire 6 years after DOM and kids need to be in car seat/boosters longer than that.
Damn... I never would have thought I even know this much about cars seats. I think they are more complex than the computer systems I work on. :figment:

That is true. I was thinking I would get the Nautilus after Megan outgrows her Marathon CS (which we don't have yet but that is what we're getting her) because by then hopefully she will have a little sibling to pass the Marathon down to.
