I think its funny how much we can all talk about car seats here! lol

Anyways, I am considering getting Nichole the Graco Nauilus. Does nayone have it?

We went to Target today and I sat her in it. She is almost on the smallest settings, so it for sure would fit forever! lol Things I liked about it
-the head rest is adjustable
-it fits her well... the straps are snug on her hips kinda thing more so then the Marathons.
-it sits like a big kid seat as opposed to the Marathon that sits more like a baby seat.
-side impact protection, though its not TSP, but neither is the marathon
-highest strap hieght is 2 inches higher then the Marathon.. so she can 5-point harness longer
-the booster with out the back is good for 9 years as opposed to 6 for for everything else.
-Nihcole loved the seat.. I sat her in it and straped her in it (well the shoulder straps were too low but I was just playing lol) and the first things she does is giggle and say "I feel so safe!" lol I have trained her well! Oh and when I sat her in a high back booster (just playing) she was searching for the straps and asking where they were! lol

so what I would consider is getting Nichole the big girl seat, pass the Marathon down to Avery (with new straps and foam) Then Avery can use the bucket till she fits in the Marathon.. Marathon would last her till she was about 3 years old (then it would expire), then get her a similar seat (Frontier or Graco or whatever new seat is out lol)

now I can get the Nautilus with free shipping for around 130 but its the grey and black one. The pink ones are all exclusives to different sites. BRU has one, Target has one and they are 179.00 there no shipping as I can pick it up at the store. Walmart has a pink one but its a bit more cheesy flowery print, and its 156 with 97 cent shipping.

would you all pay the extra to have the cuter seat? lol:cry:

I have it for Natalia and I love it! Mainly for the same reasons. It will fit Natalia longer than many other seats since the straps move higher (since she is a tall girl), she feels so comfortable in it that she'll fall asleep if she gets tired (which is good with me working nights), and it is user friendly. I paid about $180 for it and got a girly print so I think that answers that question LOL!

That is the one I really wanted too. But, I wanted a seat that I can move her into next and keep her in until she is in a booster so it needs to rear face, which the Nautilus doesn't. But other than that I love that seat. And I love Graco.

thanks ladies..I value your opinions more then most of my friends when it comes to car seats. Only one is really like me as far as safety and 2 just want the expensive ones because they want them not knowing why.

Yeah I couldn't have put any of my other girls in it until closer to three. Natalia has been my biggest since birth.

yes it does.... I want the pink one though!!! lol So what I will do is register for it on my baby registry and Babies R us, after your babies due date they send you a coupon for 15% I think, off of whatever is on your registry.... teehee

As far as I know, and I could be wrong, all Graco seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture. That means if you buy the seat now (May 2009) the seat, including the backless booster portion, expires in May 2015.

according to their reps... the seat is good for 9 years. The backless booster along with the straps are only good for 6 like normal though. Let me see if I can find where I saw the 9 year thing.

I know.. well even if its 6 years.. I will let you know what the manual says when we get it. I might be waiting till after the baby is born though, and try to use my babies r us discount for my registry on it. or if we go to Target later ( I ned TUMS) I'll see if it says on the small one on the seat.

ok so now I am confused on expiration date! lol So Nichole's seat was manufactured in Dec... so bad example, so we will pretend it says May
If it was manufactured in May of 06.... it would be good till Dec or 12? not May 12? weird

If I remember correctly (and this is according to my notes when deciding on a seat meaning it is possibly from the manual) this poster is correct. It is six years in high back mode but the booster mode extends it to nine years.
