Well we have decided to give Nichole the Measles vaccine. Not the MMR. I am fully against the MMR shot for her or any of my future kids.
Her doc was fine with this as well. I want them no closer then 6 months apart as well. Well her doc went on a scavenger hunt to find this for me as she does not carry them singly. They cost 450 bucks a shot and she has to buy 10 at a time!!!! UHG!!! Well after calling health departments, the vaccine company themselves, her vaccine rep, pharmasists (to get a prescriptoin) she has decided to order the 10!!
Basically within 3 weeks of us going for Nichole's weight check when we told her we wanted it done singly.. shse now has at least 3 other parents besides me who also want it given singly.
I think this is great for all of us!! I think it will be great for the docs bussiness as well because she now can offer it in place of hte MMR for htose that are unsure.

So anyways Nichole goes next Thursday for the shot. Wish us luck that she has no reactions to it. I don't think I can handle another one!! Or I should say she can't handle another one.

lol her doc is awesome that is why!! lol She called county health departments for me while I was there. I kept apologizing for being such a pain lol. She kept telling me she was fine with it and that she was glad I did the research and that I am choosing to vaccinate some and that makes her happy. lol
You may want to check out yahoo groups. They have a vaccine site there and they list vax friendly docs. That will be your best shot. I just happened to see a news thing last week and their were a few docs on there that said they no longer even offer the MMR and only give it singly. I wrote down that docs name and was going to call her. But then Nichole's doc decided to go ahead and buy the 10 pack of then,

is the mmr the one that is supposed to have caused the increase in autism - or is it the one nichole had the reaction to before? i am interviewing peds now and haven't found any that will give the mmr separately.

No prrof to say it is or isn't to me is prrof to be cautious. It also is the top vaccine for severe reactions. Its not always easy to find a doc that will. But keep calling. We decided she was getting singly or not at all.

What shot did she react to in the past? She had a severe reaction at her 2 month appointment, but they all told me it was coincedence and it was not the vaccine!!! My butt!! A healthy 8 week of child that is EBF'd not in daycare and not around anyone that is sick does not magically get 105 fever within a few hours of a vaccine, then scream uncontrollably for hours and hours and break out in hives that night (after the screaming had stopped)

I took her to an allergist and they skin tested her for all the vaccines she recieved that day. She had no reactions to all of them except the DTaP. She did not react to DT either, so we no it was the pertussis vaccine. They told me they were comfortable giving her the vaccine though at the hospital that way if she had anaphylactic shock they would be prepared and comfortable with it. lol I was not comfortable!!! I told her ped (who sent us to the allergist) and she said she completely understood and would give us a medical waiver for the pertussis.

She started to develope eczema the day after her 2month shots but it wasnt horrible. Then she got her 4m shots and within a day she was a mess. Her head was a solid sore her hands swelled and busted and bled. We still fight to this day with eczema but it isnt nearly as bad as it was. But she does have asthma now :( often eczema kids develope asthma later on they seem to go hand in hand.

Then when she got MMR she went white as a sheet and I thought she was going to pass out but she managed not to somehow. She was also starting to copy words but after that shot she stopped totally and is still behind on speech :( I think the MMR reaction was due to it containing egg byproducts and she has a pretty bad egg allergy. I didnt learn about that till she was 2 though when she had allergy testing.

My ds got his 2 and 4m shots before I found out I didnt have to give them and he also started to show signs of eczema :( once I stopped the vax he started to get better and by a year showed no signs at all of eczema and hasnt to this day.

You say she reacted to the Pertusis componant of the vax accordint to the allergist? You should get the package insert for the single vax that you are going to give and make sure that it isnt manufactured with any of the same ingrediants.

I dont have a link on this computer with the package inserts from all the vax but if you do a search you should be able to find it or you can just go to the Ped now and get it.

I have looked them up, thanks though. Its so hard to tell what could have caused teh reaction itself. I am very nervous right now as tomorrow is the day, but I have to just stay with my gut of giving it to her. If she has anything over 102 she is going to the ER and it is being reported as a vaccine reaction this time. I don't care! If she has the slightest reaction (low grade is fine) she will not recieve one more vax of any kind.

Many people do think ecxema is linked to vaccines and childhood asthma. Scary> I am so sorry your kids went through that

well good and bad! lol She did fine. Cried for about 30 seconds, till I showed her the new baby dolls I bought her. lol Spoiled? You bet!!

The big thing is though that nurse didn't tell me that the measles was on back order and just assumed I wanted mumps!!!! I don't care about the mumps I care about the measles that are going around right now!! They idiot nurse was like "well she can get that in July when it comes in!' I wanted to beat her upside her head!! I told her that no she couldn't since her boss (the doctor) has Nichole on a 6 month wait between vaxes because of her history and now she can't be vaccinated with it till she is 3! My God by the time she can get it the measles outbreak will be over!! I was o furious!!
