My Mood: Rep Power: 47 Reputation: 308 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children Alexandra (9), Sean (4) | We have all gone through them especially when our kids are young. With our kids they tend to get up during the night when they are sick as well. It makes sense but who here has dealt with sleeping problems with their kids that just won't stay in bed? Maybe it is because they typically get up every few hours anyway or because they like to stall in hopes of not going to bed. ![]() Our daughter just tonight claimed she was having bad dreams but just before going to bed she was upset about having to go to bed. After talking with her for a bit, it seemed she was not telling us the whole truth and that she just wanted to stay up. She doesn't do this often but stalling is one thing she has done in the past. Our son hasn't picked up this trick yet and he typically will sleep through the night unless he isn't feeling well. Lately he has been sick and he has gotten up a couple time a night too.

| Ninja of Love ![]() | Madelyn has to "use the bathroom" a few times between 8:30 pm (her bedtime) and 10:00 pm (the time she actually goes to bed) every night! We don't deny her we just let her use the potty then usher her off to bed. It's not a real big deal to us just a minor annoyance.

Stall tactics, sure we have those, like the potty, but we only have them once or twice then she is done and asleep. She does not always sleep through the night, so can't help there, never has. She is usually up 1-3 times a night

As of now they go to bed with a bottle of water and the bathroom is right across from their bedroom- no reason to veer on the way. They've kinda got past it now but I know what you mean. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 11 Reputation: 77 ![]() Children Delaney, 5.5 | We used to let Laney fall asleep in our bed and then we would move her to her bed. The problem here, is when she woke up, she wanted to go back to the place that made her comfortable (and us uncomfortable) OUR BED! This would happen once, twice, sometimes even three times a night, each time we would return her to her bed and there would be tears. Then she got smart, "I had a nightmare", "I have a belly ache", " I'm scared", "I'm lonely". Finally we decided that we were going to start putting Delaney to bed in her bed. We tuck her in, kiss her goodnight, remind her that we would like no problems, that she needs to stay in her bed and be a big girl. We then turn on her cd player and let her listen to a christian cd that Steven made her of her favorite songs. This has been working amazing! She rarely gets up anymore and if she does she puts herself back to sleep. We almost never end up with her in our bed anymore. It's pretty incredible the change. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 11 Reputation: 77 ![]() Children Delaney, 5.5 | I agree that she is cute. But you forget that cuteness when she is waking you up for the third time in a night and it's now 4am and you have to get up in 2 hours! |

My Mood: Rep Power: 47 Reputation: 308 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children Alexandra (9), Sean (4) | Our daughter, our 8-year-old daughter, was merely in bed for two minutes tonight when she came out of her room and said she had a nightmare. Now that was really fast. Of course we returned her to her bed and she has been asleep since. I don't know what the latest reason for stalling is but she is going to get the same result each time, by going back to bed.

My Mood: Rep Power: 11 Reputation: 77 ![]() Children Delaney, 5.5 | just keep at it, Mark. She will get the hint soon enough that the stalling and excuses are not going to get her her desired result. Eventually she will get it, that she just needs to go to be and stay there. |
