I have one I use for emergencies (got it when I traveled a lot more often) and now I basically will but gas with it and pay it off.

I forgot to update this thread after we met with our State Farm agent. We met with him last Thursday and he cleared the air. I was previously told that my rates went up due to my credit rating. Knowing that sounded bogus, I scheduled the meeting. He corrected that statement and explained that this is not the reason the rates went up. Basically, like everything else, the premiums simply went up for everyone. Apparently our auto rates went up in February and he also warned us that our home owners insurance rates will go up in August. Isn't that great. It is probably worth still looking into other options but after he showed me all the discounts we get, I don't know if we can do much better. I will have to see what the home owners insurance goes up to though before we decide to make any drastic changes.

So at least they didn't raise the rates for some dumb reason. I feel a little bit better about this. Not much, but a little.

Well before you renew do shop around. I don't know about homeowners and auto insurance because I don't do those but I know I recently bought insurance for my car and got an amazing deal.

Alright folks, I'm gonna pimp my site here. I work for insurance.com, and we do comparitive quoting and binding for auto insurance. Kind of like Progressive does, but we can actually sell you the policy, where they can't.

Credit cards are really not that bad, if you have control over them. I have had credit cards since I was 18 years old, I am now 25 and the highest balance I have is $1000, I don't think anyone would consider that being DEEP in debt. I do agree that you have to be responsible. I make large payments every month, more then the minimum payment, and only charge things once in a while. I think credit cards can be all right if you use them in moderation.

Ditto to everything here (cept I'm 27) and yet still a 1 day late payment ONCE has hurt my credit. And it's not like I didn't have the $, didn't get the statement on time!
