Americans have something crazy like 4 trillion dollars credit card debt (watched a special the other day)

You don't have to be irresponsible to get in over your head. Especially when life circumstances change.

Oh I know- I was there and we put more and more on the cards and it got out of control. I have only one card now and plan to keep it that way.

I couldn't agree more. I don't have much CC debit at all but what I do have came from a really bad time in my life

I have done that before too. It is awful to plan to make a payment and then to forget.

I will have to take a look and see if we can get better rates. It is definitely worth checking out.

You were quoting Kaytee's post here, not sure how to quote them both!

I often thought about getting rid of all cards (I have 3 and they aren't very much) but I wondered about what Mark said here.

Kaytee, how do you guys get along with NO credit cards? How do you like... Stay in a hotel room, or rent a car, or anything? I have found without one, there is really so much you couldn't do.

You can use your debit card for all that stuff, that's what we do. we do have 1 capital one card, but we set it up online to pay the full balance automatically each month - but we hardly ever put anything on there

Yeah, anything that can save cash is good...I can't guarantee that you'll get a better rate b/c we're not an insurance company, we're a middle man betweent the companies and the consumers. But, it's certainly worth the try to see if you can save some dough.

I do all that stuff with my debit too. My one credit card is emergencies only and I pay the balance in full for anything I put on it.

Ok, that works then! Only here you could not stay in a hotel or rent a car without a valid credit card. Interesting!
