How do you handle it when one parent did something as a child and is getting it back, and the other parent would have never dreamed of doing the same thing as a kid? I dont know if that makes sense. We have been correcting everyday...no jumping on the bed. It's not hard to understand yet we have to address it everyday. So this evening when DD is already in trouble she jumps happily on the bed untill I walk by then she tells her dad she was just doing this as she was making the bed. In private he tells me thats so something I would have done as a kid. My blood is boiling. I never did stuff like that as a kid. Mom said no and I didnt do it. Period. I watched my bro get spankings "testing" moms no's. How do you handle getting back what you did as a kid as the other parent?

well your husband should have punished her for jumping on the bed, since she knows the rules. BUT yay I did things I knew I wasn't suppose to do when no one was looking. I snuck in my moms makeup drawer when I had friends spend the night, "Borrowed" her shoes that were way to big to walk around in as a 10 year old. Smoked cigerettes when I was 16. I think it is normal that she tries to get away with things when no one is looking.

Yeah we all did things we weren't supposed to an so will our kids but when they get caught they have to be punished.

I have to agree, it's totally normal for her to be testing her limits. Most kids will do this but they do need to be punished when they're caught, that's how they learn right from wrong

Sometimes I punish my kids that have to walk away so that I can laugh. I was such a smart ass when I was a kid (luckily I grew out of it ) so when my kids smart off occasionally I find it funny that I am getting payback but I never laugh in front of them I just punish them accordingly then leave the room and snicker.
