My Mood: Rep Power: 20 Reputation: 374 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children DS (13) and DD (11) | I have MySpace and Facebook accounts. I rarely go to MySpace but wanted to check it out and be aware before my kids discover it. Like it or not, these kinds of web sites aren't going to go away and I feel parents should be at least somewhat familiar with them. Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. That said, the age requirement to join is 13. My best friend's 11 yr. old has a page. I do not agree with this, but she's not my kid. My DD (11) asked to join and I simply told her she's not old enough. She knows my friend's DD has a page, but hasn't used that as a bargaining tool as she knows it's wrong to lie. My son (13) has shown some interest and I'd be OK if he decides to join, with guidance and loose monitoring. He's meets the minimum age requirement and is mature and responsible. The privilege would be taken away if he demonstrated inappropriate behavior. |
