My Mood: Rep Power: 37 Reputation: 154 ![]() ![]() | I can't answer your question Kaytee, but I think you're being smart. Where I live it costs 4.20 today. Where I work it costs 4.35. Therefor, I know to where to by my gas (close to home, not close to work) when traveling a person doesn't know off handed where are the good/bad places to buy gas. Generally the upscale areas are noticeably higher than every where else. Buying gas at Costco or Wal mart will save you a few $$$ each time you fill up. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 47 Reputation: 308 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children Alexandra (9), Sean (4) | Around here we are paying approximately $4.09 per gallon for 87 octane. What gets me mad the most is that when the cost per barrel goes up, gas prices climb at a fast rate. Just over a week ago the cost per barrel went down and did we see any relief? Nope. As a matter of fact the prices either stayed the same or still went up. When we were in the Virgin Islands, we were talking to a couple from New Jersey. They said that in NJ it is against the law for the cost of gas to be more than 2% higher than the national average and that gas station owners can only change the price of gas once per week. I am not sure if this is legit but that is what someone was telling us.

[quote] this is because the stores actually pay for the gas in advance. so if gas prices went up on wednesday at the station, it is because the delivery of gas the station got on tuesday's price went up. when price/barrell goes down, the actual stations don't see that gas for many weeks. the gas prices are based on what the actual stations are being charged for the gas, not even close to related to the price per barrel that day.
