hmm.. we had another one of the good ones yesterday at the mall too!!! Sucks to cuz we all wanted ice cream, and miss Nichole thought it would be better to run out of the store we were in, across the mall and into another store. She was told no ice cream at that point. She throws herself on the ground kicking and screaming "I want ice cream" we get her calmed down, and every thing is fine. We walk around for another 20 minutes and she is being good. So being that we were shopping my friend who is getting married in 2 months and Nichole is her flower girl, we let her apologize for her bad behavior and were going to let the ice cream slip anyways. (normally I would have just left but we were there to buy her flower girl dress), so she apologizes and as we are walking to go get the ice cream, she has another terrible screaming fir because she wants to ride the stupid rides!!! UHG!! So there goes ice cream again. And as I am pulling her close to me to pin her to my chest, she is screaming and kicking her legs!!!! We went straight to the truck where she continued to scream that she wanted ice cream. I just kept telling her "sorry you didn't behave you are not getting ice cream" which in turn made her thrash even more!!! So I try to calm her down in the truck before putting her in her seat, well that didn't work so I had to force he rin her seat. {inning her down wiht my arm while she kicks and screams. I had to take her shoes off because she was kicking me and it hurt! So I pin her in there, buckle her up and we leave the mall. She scrams for about 20 more minutes then of course passes out from exhaustion! We get home about a half hour after she fell asleep I am praying that she just stays asleep. I wil gladly have her up late then deal with screaming tantrums! Nope no go! As soon as I pull in our driveway she wakes up and starts screaming that she wants ice cream!
I seriously do not know what to do with her. I am not an advocate for spanking nor have I spanked her before but Lord she is getting me really close to trying it! ANy ideas!

oh and no she did not get any ice cream yesterday, she came home, ate dinner of brocalli rice and pork chops and went straight to bed. She was in her bed laying there till almost 9. I put her in her room at 7:15!!!! She cried a few times but no more then a min. and then would be quiet!

Hey Kaytee, have you figured something out that helps Nichole while shopping?

no not really! lol some days she is good and usually walks out with something (candy, play doh) other times she is horrid and an embarresment and we leave and she gets nothing.
Now that she is in gymnastics and we can start working on her motor skills to catch up to her verbal and intellectual hopefully things will go smoother. lol

Burning off excess energy & having fun at the same time always helps to, at least, some limited degree. Even if that means the behavior is not as bad than it would have been otherwise.

What is always puzzling about kids, and adults for that matter, is that even when they know that good behavior is rewarded (they get candy or play dough, etc), they still act out anyway or in the case of adults, make a bad choice. My thinking is that they just can't help it, and possibility there are other events, or lack of them, that trigger it.
